An impactful project for 200 cocoa-producing families of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serranía del Perijá.
At Anei, we believe cocoa is not just a crop but a tool for social, economic, and environmental transformation. Therefore, today we are excited to announce the launch of " Heavenly Cocoa," a project that seeks to close the gaps toward a decent income and improve the living conditions of cacao-producing families in our territory.
This project is the result of an international partnership between Anei, our Chocolate Makers partner, the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT), and the Government of the Netherlands, through the Responsible Business Grant Program (RVO) and on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Why " Heavenly Cocoa"?
Because it represents a vision of the future where single-origin cocoa, grown in harmony with nature, drives the comprehensive development of our communities. Along the way, we seek to improve crop yields, rehabilitate 375 hectares of cocoa, and guarantee better incomes for 200 families, based on a sustainability and gender equity perspective.
Two phases for real and sustainable change
The project will be developed over three years (May 2025 to April 2028) in key regions of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía del Perijá. It is structured in two major phases:
Phase 1: Diagnostic
An in-depth analysis will include:
Phase 2: Rehabilitation and Livelihood Improvement
Deep-rooted territorial impact
"Heavenly Cocoa" will be implemented in all cocoa-growing areas where Anei operates. Its impact goes beyond cultivation: it promotes economic justice, gender inclusion, environmental conservation, and community-based rural development.
