The importance of women’s work in organic coffee growing in Colombia is becoming more evident as time passes. Being aware of this, ASOANEI has always granted the participation and well-being of women, especially of those who are leaders of indigenous and coffee growing households. “CAFÉ FEMENINO” is a gender equality program directed towards building a close relationship with female producers and setting them as one of our organization’s strategic pillars. Currently, there are 201 indigenous and farmer associated women, who are committed to association, fair trade, and organic and sustainable agriculture.

The organization provides the necessary knowledge and technology in order to apply them in each one of the production stages, to reach efficiency in the agricultural process and to guarantee the quality of the final product. It also provides the female employees with a dignified job, fair remuneration, as well as a number of benefits for their well-being, besides improvement of their life quality, and it pursuits communitarian wellness through teamwork.

This program encourages female coffee producers and allows us to understand their issues, wishes and aspirations within a friendly, fair and sustainable environment, benefiting not only these women’s families, but the entire region. It also strengthens social fabric, environmental sustainability and encourages the country’s development.
